You know those cheesy scenes in movies where a person lands at the airport and someone is holding up a huge sign welcoming them, then they see each other and rush towards each other, arms wide open, and then embrace with tears in their eyes?
I love those scenes.
And I got to live that scene when we returned to Minnesota. 😊
Our daughter and granddaughter picked us up at the airport. Instead of holding up a sign, they painted messages on the car. How fun! Our reunion was lovely.
After being away from home for 22 months, we did what we could to make up for lost time. We didn’t let jet-lag stop us!Our first week was full of adventures – our son’s first jab (perhaps more of a necessity than an adventure), pool time with the kids and grandkids, checking out our friends’ chickens, sleepovers for the boys, shopping for things we can’t get in Hong Kong, and meals at our favorite restaurants with our favorite people.
Week one was busy. And it was amazing.
Knowing another extended absence was waiting on the horizon, we celebrated each reunion and treasured the time we shared with family and ‘framily.’
